Kamen Rider: Battride War Genesis (仮面ライダー バトライド・ウォー 創生 Kamen Raidā Batoraido Wō Sōsei), or Battride War Creation in some publications, is the intended sequel to Kamen Rider: Battride War II and the third installment in the Battride War video game series. The game was announced by Bandai at the 2015 Tokyo Game Show and was released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita on February 26, 2016 to celebrate the franchise's 45th anniversary. [1] It is also the first Battride War game to include some of the Showa Riders as playable characters.

In 2017, a new installment to the Climax Heroes series was developed instead of a new Battride War game, titled Kamen Rider: Climax Fighters.

Plot

The Kamen Riders, past and present, are being mysteriously erased from existence. To discover the culprit behind this plot, Kamen Rider Ghost, accompanied by Den-O who survived the incident, must use the Den-Liner to travel in time to undo this calamity. Events of Kamen Rider History are being changed, such as the first monsters who were defeated becoming immune to the Riders first kicks. All the while, an old enemy plans his revenge on the Riders for his death so he can live again to destroy the world!

This game mainly focuses on the plot of the first episode of each earliest Kamen Rider season. Commonly for Drive, Kuuga, Agito, Decade, W (extended from Movie War 2010's Begins Night prequel scenes), Kamen Rider, V3, and BLACK.

Changes

Gameplay Systems

  • Menu
    • Characters Select row is similar to the character select in one of Omega Force's Warriors series
  • Gameplay
    • Final Form/Mode Gauge system has been revamped into two levels in one gauge bar:
      • Level 1/050%: Can only activate Strongest Form/Mode and performs its special attacks
      • Level 2/100%: Can activate Strongest Form/Mode and performs its special attacks then activates Ultimate Form/Mode
    • Form change/power-up limit gauge for a certain Riders' form(s) available
    • A new Attack Blast system has been added, allowing players to perform attacks while riding some of Kamen Riders' signature motorcycles, cars, and other vehicles
      • Press to drift attack when the vehicle is in the air
    • Figures are found real-time inside boxes, they are stored inside a Gashapon. However, some Figure boxes will be well hidden in stages and not easy to find
    • The Gashapon comes in 2 colors, blue seems to give you 1 figure, red gives you 3 random figures
  • Tag Team system replaces the Assist system to both Menu and Gameplay
    • An AI Support Rider can be selected at the character select screen, after selecting some Main Playable Riders, instead of in Briefing mode
    • The Assist Gauge now resides in the Ultimate Final Form gauge's former place beside the player character's portrait.
    • AI Riders can stay and leave anytime after being summoned by pressing L1. If the player uses attack buttons with L1, the AI Rider may be summoned quickly to perform attacks:
      • L1+: Normal Attack
      • L1+: Special 1
      • L1+: Special 2
    • The Assist Gauge has a Double Rider Kick gauge and can be activated if fullly charged via attacks by pressing L1++, and the gauge on the lower side indicates the timer of the Double Rider Kick activation. Press again to activate it quickly. It will automatically be activated once the limiter is at 0 to perform this move.

Errors

66efe9d1gw1f0vrsjyrv8j20k00b9q6l
  • Although the Drive-section combatmen in the game are the Cobra-Type Mecha Roidmudes, however, after they are destroyed, 029's core will appear on all of them.
  • Baron's Lemon Energy Lockseed is not added in his respective closing screen.
  • When Baron Lemon Energy Arms performs attacks with Banana and Mango Lockseed power, it announces "Banana Squash" and "Mango Squash". This is such a feat that couldn't happen since the Lemon Energy Lockseed itself is still in the Genesis Driver. The sound could only happen if the normal Lockseeds is docked in the Genesis Driver. It's more logical if Baron docked the Lockseeds into the Sonic Arrow, initiating "Banana Charge" and "Mango Charge" sounds.
  • During the PV, Specter was shown to remove his hood in the intro cut scene. However, when the DLC was released, Specter didn't wear his hood and shows a bizarre scene where he removed his hood which was already flipped.
  • Unlike the playable Phase 2 Heisei Era Riders (from Gaim to Ghost), Knight and Garren's end scene of their closing screen on the cards is not theirs, but the card of primary Riders Ryuki and Blade.
  • A. R. Kuuga's NPC dialogue screen is not his own, but original Kuuga's.

Notes

  • Similar to the first Battride War game, where as Wizard, Double, and Decade were the main Riders, Ghost, Den-O, BLACK and Rider 1 play an important role in this game.
  • V3 showcased some of his other 26 Secrets in the game, such as the Freezer Shot, Gliding Muffler, V3 Thunder and Red Bone Ring.
  • This is the first appearance of the Drive Riders in a Battride War game, mainly due to the fact that there was no Battride War game released during the early portion of Drive's run.
    • Due to them not appearing in any prior Climax Heroes or Battride War games, this is also the first appearance of five Showa Riders in this set of games: Kamen Riders X, Stronger, Skyrider Super-1 and ZX. This leaves Shin, ZO and J the remaining Showa Riders who have yet to make an appearance in these games.
  • The premise of this game is similar to the previous anniversary work, OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders in that both works feature Kamen Riders being erased from existence due to the interference of a group of villains. Also, both works feature Kamen Rider Den-O assisting the titular rider as a major character in the plot.
  • Riderman was initially displayed on the game's website as a playable character in the game, but he was later changed to become a support character for V3.[12]
  • Similar to the previous Battride War games, there were several differences between some selected very first episode of each season. Though, they were much more unnoticeable:
    • W: The level focuses on the Movie War 2010's prequel scene of Begins Night, rather than Double battling Magma Dopant in the first episode, due to being a very first birth of W himself. Additionally, the setting of this level is in a parking lot, rather than the Gaia Tower.
    • Kuuga: It's very bizarre for Zu-Gooma-Gu to appear in this game as the first monster. In fact, Kuuga's first monster is Zu-Gumun-Ba. Though, this might be because Gooma was the first monster that Kuuga fought in Mighty Form. However, because of this error, there were several differences too:
      • There isn't any appearance of Zu-Gumun-Ba, and a civilian appearance of Kaoru Ichijo.
      • Zu-Gooma-Gu shouldn't be killed in this part because he ran away after Zu-Gumun-Ba interfered his fight with Kuuga.
    • Drive: Kiriko is not seen anywhere in the cutscene where Shinnosuke first transforms into Drive, and the area is different from the location where it occurred.
    • Decade: Wataru and Tsukasa are depicted as transformed while they converse about the DecadeDriver and the Kamen Ride Cards, while in the original episode, neither of them were transformed. Also, in the game, Decade battles the monsters from Kabuto, Faiz and Hibiki that doesn't involves Natsumi Hikari and transported around the 3 worlds they are in, instead in the original episode after Decade's converse with Kiva goes to World of Kuuga.
    • Kamen Rider: Set during the time Takeshi Hongo becomes cyborg Kamen Rider 1. However, Kamen Rider 1 does not escape Shocker's base along with Professor Midorikawa, which is also does not involved the professor's Ruriko Midorikawa, and the death of the professor himself.
      • Spider Man shouldn't be killed in Shocker Base either.
    • V3: Scissors Jaguar is not involved in attacking the original Double Riders and V3.
    • BLACK: Set after Soichiro Akizuki's death. The stage is set on the warehouse, not a street nearby Akizuki's home.
    • For Kuuga, Double, and Drive, unlike Rider 1, their actual civilian form does not appear, and instead their civilian form's 3D models are all just a similar silhouette 3D character model.
  • The game's retelling of storyline based on the TV series (Movie War film for W) are only focused on one of the earliest Riders from each era phases (not counting Drive, despite the story based on his first episode is in) in order to save the future Riders or past Riders in first appearances and manage to be recruited quickly:
    • First two Heisei Era Phase 2 Riders: Decade and W or W and Decade
    • First two Heisei Era Phase 1 Riders: Kuuga and Agito or Agito and Kuuga
    • The last Showa Rider for the future first Heisei Rider: BLACK (starting from the first Season)
    • First two Showa Era Riders: Kamen Rider (starting with Rider 1 in his original form) and V3
  • This is the first time where Wizard's Dragon Styles are fully playable.
  • Ghost's forms only appear for a short time as a attack moves before reverting back to his Ore Damashii form. This also happens to Specter and Ghost in Toucon Boost Damashii as well.
  • In the official website, G3-X's intro cutscene was the same as the previous Battride War games. However, with the release of the game PV, G3-X' intro cut scene was completely changed, now included the appearance of Guard Chaser.
    • Because of this, G3-X is the only Rider to have an intro cutscene with his Rider Machine.
  • This game now confirms that Baron's Final Form is, in fact, Lord Baron, yet also the first playable Rider to utilize his monster form as a full playable form.
  • It is shown that by modifying the game's data, several playable characters can be changed into their support characters which are usually non-playable, such as from V3 to Riderman, and Zangetsu Shin to Ryugen. Their movesets are also changed as well. However, the sound clips and other miscellaneous graphics of the original character are retained.[13][14]
  • Fourze and Double's right-half are the only Riders whose original actor does not reprises their roles in this sequel game for some reason.
  • However, like in the second game, Tomoyuki Dan and Tsuyoshi Takeshita's voice file for Weather Dopant and Kamen Rider Kabuto are still being reused, despite the latters' death.
  • Despite not appearing in this game, Albino Joker's Albiroaches still appeared in this game.
  • This game does not have a returning stages and retelling chapters from the previous games. This also affects the Decade version of King Dark, Decade Jumbo Formation, Gara Dragon, Space Iron Siblings in the form of Groundcar and Skyjet, and Bujin Gaim Lotus Position, due to either the having a too large file size, or/and only appeared in a certain Movie retelling chapter (for Gara Dragon, he also appeared in Tokugawa Yoshimune's first chapter). The reason for this, along with why there are less retelling of Kamen Riders' early episodes' stories from above, would be the hardware limitation on the PS Vita.
    • Thus, only a movie villain Riders from the previous game to be in for a challenge mode only.
Grateful 3d model BWG

The 3D model of Ghost Grateful Damashii.

  • There are transformation sounds and a 3D game model for Kamen Rider Ghost Grateful Damashii, along with the upcoming DLC characters Specter, Chaser and Toucon Boost are hidden in the game's update patch. Grateful Damashii is confirmed to be super attack only for Toucon Boost.[15]
  • For Gaim and Drive, they are the only main Riders that have their final form act as the Ultimate Form, which does not show a brief cut scene of their final forms prepare their attack moves.
  • The moment where Yuto brings in reinforcements is similar to how Akira Date brought in back-up during the events of OOO, Den-O All Riders. Additionally, the brainwashing on the second riders by Creation King possesed Shadow Moon has been repeated all over again since the first Battride War game.
  • This is the first Battride War game that does not feature an original game characters.
  • Besides both version of Kamen Riders' original and other separate forms (including the separate DLC form of the original) cannot be used together in Tag Mode, the reason why both counterparts of Kuuga cannot be used together on Tag Mode is likely not just because of having the same models (except for Upgraded Main Form charge attacks and Ultimate Forms functions, which are different), but also the reasons on Kamen Rider Decade's two last episodes between both counterparts of Blade. Although this effect had appeared in since the original Kamen Rider: Battride War game.
  • Before executing the Double Rider Kick, Ghost and Specter call each other with each other Rider's name. This means that this game, if it were made to canon, takes place before Takeru realizes that Makoto is Specter. If not, they would have called each other with their names.
  • This is the only game that Ryosuke Miura and Miyuki Sawashiro does not return as Ankh and Kiva-la, due to the story focuses on the earliest episodes between the first or second episodes (Begins Night movie part for W) of the two earliest & 1 last Rider shows from each Phases.
    • Daisuke Ono, despite his character Teddy did return as Mach-teddy, does not return as a navigator.
    • Kiva the 3rd and the 2nd, along with Tatsulot, are only their navigator voice file removed for this reasons.
