This article is about a series of movies in the Kamen Rider Series. |
The Movie War Series (MOVIE大戦シリーズ, Mūbī Taisen Shirīzu) is a series of crossover films between two immediate installments of the Kamen Rider franchise, having started with W and Decade. Typically, these movies premiere around mid-December and are treated as Winter Movies.
Individual films since the Generations Series and beyond have discarded the Movie War title, though they continue to follow the traditional crossover format as established by the earlier Movie War films.

Multi-Act Format[]
Each film of the series is presented in several acts:
- The first act is dedicated to the recently finished series and usually serves as an epilogue that follows the story of the characters after the events of their final episodes.
- The second act is dedicated to the incumbent series and usually serves to tell an additional side-story involving the characters, allowing them to be developed in ways that do not make it on television.
- The third and final act combines the narratives of both parts where both protagonist Riders team-up to defeat a combination of their respective enemies.
In rarer occasions, the incumbent and previous series switch act placements, and the second act is seamlessly combined with the final act.

Full-Length Format[]
Starting in 2015, the one long full-length narrative format was introduced, in which it was followed by the entire Generations Series. Though not split into acts, several narrative elements has carried over such as the incumbent Rider being involved in an additional story while also serving as an epilogue to the recently finished Rider. In recent years, villains were often derived mainly from the incumbent series' while the films' story drew conceptual themes from the predecessor series'.

Supporting Rider cameo debuts[]
Most Movie War films feature the introduction of a Rider which would debut in the series' second-quarter arc, usually in the form of a cameo appearance. Initially, this would be the series' Secondary Rider, though this role would be given to another major supporting Rider in seasons where the secondary has already debuted earlier on.
Secondary debuts[]
- Movie War 2010: Kamen Rider Accel
- Movie War Core: Kamen Rider Birth
- Movie War Mega Max: Kamen Rider Meteor
- Movie War Ultimatum: Kamen Rider Beast
- Movie War Full Throttle: Kamen Rider Mach
- Strongest Chemy★Great Gotcha Operation: Kamen Rider Majade
Non-secondary debuts[]
- Sengoku Movie Battle: Kamen Riders Zangetsu Shin, Duke, & Marika (they appear untransformed, but their respective transformation devices are seen)
- Super Movie Wars Genesis: Kamen Rider Necrom
- Heisei Generations: foreshadowing of Kamen Rider Para-DX via the title screen of Perfect Puzzle
- Heisei Generations FINAL: Kamen Rider Grease
- Reiwa The First Generation: Kamen Rider Thouser
Films without cameos[]
- Heisei Generations FOREVER
- Beyond Generations
- Movie Battle Royale
Notes[]
- The Movie War series can be considered the Kamen Rider Series' equivalent to the VS. movies of Super Sentai, which had celebrated its 15th anniversary before the start of the Movie War Series.
- Most Movie War films feature Legend Rider versions of the Kamen Riders' Collectible Devices. In some cases, the main Riders of each respective seasons will exchange powers; this may also occur in a one-sided manner where only one main Rider adopts the powersets of the other.
