Ikunori Araki (荒木 生徳, Araki Ikunori), better known by his stage name Shigeru Araki (荒木 茂, Araki Shigeru, alternatively written as 荒木 しげる) was a Japanese actor who portrayed Shigeru Jo/Kamen Rider Stronger in Kamen Rider Stronger. He reprised the role in Kamen Rider (Skyrider).

Araki passed away on April 14, 2012 of pneumonia.[1] This occurred the day before the airing of Kamen Rider Fourze episode 31.

  • Araki's passing makes him the first lead Kamen Rider star to do so. Many other Kamen Rider actors, including Hiroshi Fujioka and Ryo Hayami gave their condolences to Araki and his family.
  • Araki was originally given the offer of either playing Stronger or Tsuyoshi Kaijo/AkarengerIcon-crosswiki in the other major 1975 Toei Tokusatsu production, Himitsu Sentai GorengerIcon-crosswiki, which would become the first Super Sentai series. Araki ultimately went with Stronger due to the established nature of the Kamen Rider franchise at the time. The role of Kaijo ultimately went to Naoya MakotoIcon-crosswiki.
