So Okuno (奥野 壮, Okuno Sō) is a Japanese actor and dancer who portrayed the various iterations of Sougo Tokiwa in Kamen Rider Zi-O.

Biography[]

Okuno won the Photogenic award in the 30th Junon Superboy Contest, out of over 17000 other applicants.

Post Kamen Rider[]

Since the end of his tenure as Sougo, he has made regular appearances in dramas and films such as Peanut Butter Sandwich and Kiss Him, Not Me.

Personal life[]

  • Okuno has been doing classical ballet for more than a decade, and incorporated it into Sougo's transformation pose and Zi-O's fighting styles.
  • Okuno is a fan of Kamen Rider Kiva.[1]
  • In regards to Okuno's casting, producer Shin-ichiro Shirakura stated that it was particularly difficult to cast a young man who can properly portray Sougo's kingly aura, and Okuno was cast due to his unique outlook of the world, and considered it an act of fate. As a result being cast, Okuno had dropped out of high school to film Zi-O. [2]
  • Okuno mentions that he is very optimistic about life like Sougo, but doesn't have his skills to communicate with "everyone".

  • With the first being Shun Nishime, Okuno is the second actor to have been cast as the leading Kamen Rider under the age of 17. However, Okuno turned 18 before the airing of his own series.
  • Prior to being cast as Sougo, he was acquainted with both Hiroki Iijima and Shun Nishime due to being them all being affiliated with the same agency, Oscar PromotionIcon-crosswiki. Currently, Okuno and Iijima are members of Oscar Promotion's acting troupe Aoyama Omotesando X, alongside Garo-star Wataru Kuriyama and Kiramager-star Kohei ShojiIcon-crosswiki.
  • He is the first actor born in the 2000's to play the Primary Rider.
  • Okuno participated in the 30th Junon Superboy Contest in the same year as Saber-star Eiji Togashi. Okuno's co-star Gaku Oshida had won the 29th the year prior.
