Toshiki Inoue (井上 敏樹, Inoue Toshiki) is a Japanese screenwriter known for his work on anime and Tokusatsu. He has written for many entries in the Kamen Rider series.

He made a cameo on-screen as a construction yard leader in the finale of Kamen Rider 555, which he served as head-writer.

Biography[]

Toshiki Inoue was born the son of Masaru Igami, who was the chief writer on the original Kamen Rider series. While attending Seikei University, Inoue particpated in the fantasy literature Study Group. A short story written by Inoue caught the way of Toei Animation producer Shichijo Keizo, leading to his debut screenplay in 1981 with the 24th episode of Dr. Slump, "Arale's Big Change!"[1] Since then, he was the head writer of animated works such as Galaxy Angel, Kiba, and Death Note.

Like his father, Inoue became prolific in the tokusatsu genre. In 1991, he was the main writer for Chojin Sentai JetmanIcon-crosswiki, part of the Super Sentai franchise. He has also written extensively within the Kamen Rider franchise, penning nearly every episode of Kamen Rider Agito, Kamen Rider 555, and Kamen Rider Kiva. During the production change of Kamen Rider Hibiki, Inoue was brought on as the head writer from episode 30 onwards, and wrote the series' film, Kamen Rider Hibiki And The 7 Senki. Inoue is also responsible for writing most of the Kamen Rider films within the 2000s, including the reboot films Kamen Rider The First and Kamen Rider The Next. In 2022, he was brought on as head writer for Avataro Sentai DonbrothersIcon-crosswiki.

Notes[]

  • For early Kamen Riders' summer films (Ryuki to Blade), they are considered to be alternate endings to their series. Also, the way the main Riders' final form is introduced is different from the series.
  • Most Inoue-written Kamen Rider films are considered non-canon except for Kamen Rider 1.
